It’s About Damn Time - New Music From The Lazy Wayne Band

Dallas Pryor, our episode 5 guest from the Lazy Wayne Band, once told us he won’t rush songwriting. He will release songs as he feels they are ready. Staying true to his word, the Lazy Wayne Band released their newest EP “About Damn Time: Vol. 3” on May 12th, 2023. Volume 3 comes 3 years, 7 months and 7 days after the release of the original “About Damn Time” EP. And it was definitely worth the wait!
Now that we are 11 songs into the About Damn Time series, it’s safe to say that there is no doubt these guys belong. Track after track, the guys are kickin up dust and stomping their boots with the best of them in the Red Dirt & Texas Country scene. The accomplishments and accolades are piling up. If you’ve been with us for a while now, you’d know we hosted a 2021 Single of the Month contest and the lead track from About Damn Time Vol. 2, Through Topeka, won for the month of March.
Let’s take a look at About Damn Time Vol. 3. Four songs, two new and two previously released singles, make up the 17 minutes and 11 seconds release. The EP kicks off with the two new tracks, Honkytonk Hell and The Ride followed by the 2023 single release Didn’t Matter Anyway and the 2022 single release About Damn Time.
I’m going to make this review nice and short. About Damn Time Vol. 3 is filled with everything that is missing in country music today. The musicianship and the musical choices get your blood flowing and your boots tapping. Before you know it, you’re two-stepping through the grocery store when you can’t get these songs out of your head. Plain and simple, The Ride needs to be on the radio. Do yourselves a favor and stream this EP on your preferred service. About Damn Time Vol. 3 is a must listen to for any country music fan.

In between finishing songs, the band is far from idle. With a jam packed touring schedule around Kansas and the surrounding areas, they are putting in the work to be the most electric, talented band on the scene. What’s a Lazy Wayne Band show look like? Picture a bar full of rednecks, double digits deep in Miller Lite singing The Little Mermaid’s “Under the Sea” at the top of their lungs. They’re fun, energetic and really know how to control a room.
